Dogs can get away with anything based on cuteness alone, but sometimes that cuteness can also be downright hilarious. There is not any dog who has not tried to bend the rules at least ten times, and when humans catch their canine friends in the act, it provides the entire world with the inevitable hilarity (provided the act is caught on tape). Here are ten dogs who were caught trying to bend the rules in their favor.
Paws Off The Couch
Well, he did not disobey. This dog took the ‘no paws on the couch’ rule quite seriously and sprawled the rest of himself on the couch as a compromise. It is hard to blame the dog for not listening to the rules, since he technically did not go against anything he might have been told. That, in itself, is what makes this situation so funny. It is akin to when a child is told not to go into a room, so they stand right at the doorway. Many people believe that dogs and children are already very much alike, and this photo proves it. The dog’s owner must have thought so, too, because they took the time to take a photo of the dog’s logic before doing anything about the situation.
Smooth Criminal
This little dog has a prime seat for the viewing experience that is his owner eating a sandwich. He stares intently at it while his owner eats, hoping to be given just a morsel, as any dog would. However, whenever his owner turns to look at him, he looks away as if he was never begging at all. What makes this so funny is that he truly believes his cover has not been blown, and yet it is obvious to both his owner and the viewing public that he is just trying to be suave. Adding to that, his owner must not be annoyed by his actions, because he is encouraging him by continually looking from his sandwich to his dog to see if the dog will continue his efforts.
Chin Off The Table
This dog took the ‘no chins on the table’ rule rather seriously. However, in this case, it is arguable whether or not the owner would prefer the dog’s compromise. Perhaps the rule should be, ‘no snouts on the table’. All the same, it is hard to blame the dog for not following the rules. He is only bending them a little so he can sit right up at the table too, presumably, beg for food. Any dog would do that. Plus, it is hard to say no to those eyes. Given that this is a glass table, the owner undoubtedly had to reach for the Windex after taking this photo, but the photo succeeds in giving another example of the hilarious mind of a dog.
No Dogs Allowed
Forbidden from entering her human’s office, this dog is taking desperate measures. After her toy carrot bounced into the office, she begins to slowly inch her way into the room, all the while thinking she is completely inconspicuous and that nobody is noticing her plan. Her owner, however, has indeed noticed her plan and has also decided to photograph the crime. What is so funny here is that this photo is a prime example of how dogs think they are so easily able to outsmart their owners. To humans, dogs are almost blatantly obvious in their schemes, but dogs truly believe they are the masters of plotting. That said, situations like these make for hilarious photo opportunities, as seen in this photo.
MY Food!
While one dog scarfs his food down, the other one tries to enjoy it a little bit more. However, since dogs will instinctively look for food, the one who is eating slowly could face some disastrous consequences. Since the quick eater is not allowed to touch his pal’s food, he instead lies down right next to it. He stares at it, he smells it, and he hopes that maybe his pal will be kind enough to offer him some. Although, the chances of that happening are slim. Once again, dogs have hilariously chosen to bend the rules rather than simply follow them, and this photo captures the moment perfectly. Not only that, but it was also shared with the world to provide a good giggle.
Puppy Throne
Even though this little puppy is not allowed up on the couch, her owners failed to write any fine print about fallen cushions. What is a little puppy to do when the opportunity presents itself? She seems to be enjoying her current level of comfort, and her owners thought the situation funny enough to take a photo of it. It is funny, and what makes it so funny is that this time, the puppy might not even be aware that she is bending the rules. For all she knows, that cushion was put on the floor for her. However, the coincidence that it is a couch cushion makes the situation a little suspicious, especially since she is not allowed on the couch. Either way, well played, puppy.
No Dogs ON The Couch
This dog’s owners have banned her from sitting on the couch, but nobody ever said anything about sitting inside the couch; her logic is almost applause-worthy, but only because it is so funny. All she wants is to sit where her family gets to sit, so she has taken matters into her own paws. If ever there was an example of a dog bending the rules rather than completely breaking them, this one might take the cake. Nobody can say anything about cushions being scratched or left hairy because the dog has found a rather genius way around that. No Eye Contact
It is hard to blame a dog who simply wants to be with their owner. This dog in the photos is a good visual aid to that idea. People have their own reasons for wanting dogs to stay out of certain rooms in the house, but this dog does not seem to agree with her banishment from the bedroom. Rather than outright break the rules, she has come up with her own way of bending them and judging by the photo progression; it seems to have worked. Dogs, after all, are very loyal creatures and they are happiest when they are with their owners. If this rule to stay out of the bedroom is perhaps a test of loyalty for the dog, the dog has surely passed the test.
No Paws On The Desk
This dog is forbidden from jumping up on his owner’s desk with his paws when they play fetch. Of course, the rule seems well-placed: paws and claws could harm the desk, and the dog should not get away with being rude. However, it is said that rules are made to be broken (or at least bent), and this photo is an example of exactly that. The dog is not allowed to put his paws on the desk, so he rests his head on the desk instead, all the while staring at the ball in his owner’s hand. He just has to be up close and personal to his ball, and rules only get in the way of that. If you can’t break ‘em, bend ‘em.
Keeping Watch
Where there is food, there is a dog. However, in this household, the dog is not allowed in the kitchen while his family eats dinner. That does not stop him from pushing the envelope (or the kitchen door) as much as he can so that he can still feel like he is part of the event. All dogs want is to be with their owners. In order to that, this dog must bend the rules a little bit. It seems logical, but it is also rather funny to see the dog doing the bare-minimum to follow his owner’s rules. It is almost as if he understands the situation and is acting deliberately. For all anyone knows, he is. After all, dogs are very smart animals.
